In 2023, Morocco exported 61,544 tonnes of tomatoes to the Netherlands, representing about 9% of its total tomato exports. Today these tomatoes are shipped by refrigerated trucks, for example, over 3,000 km from Agadir to the Netherlands. But at what environmental cost?
